A 5.2-magnitude earthquake struck near Julian, California, late Monday night, shaking parts of San Diego and reaching as far as Los Angeles, about 120 miles away. The tremor was widely felt across Southern California but caused no reported injuries or damage, according to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department. In a rare instance, some residents received an early warning alert roughly five seconds before the quake hit, giving a brief window to brace for the shaking.
