‘Wheel of Fortune’ Player Turns Heads After Failing To Solve Puzzle With One Letter Left

A painful Wheel of Fortune moment unfolded Tuesday night when contestant Nikol Gamble mistakenly guessed the wrong letter—despite nearly solving a 12-word puzzle in the “Song Lyrics” category.

The board read:
SEE / THE / LINE / WHERE / THE / S _ Y / MEETS / THE / SEA / IT / CALLS / ME.

Gamble, a Houston escape room owner, guessed “O,” saying, “See the line where the soy meets the sea”—even after host Ryan Seacrest noted no vowels were left. The buzzer sounded. The audience gasped.

Fellow contestant Rachael Traywick quickly solved it correctly: “Sky,” a lyric from Moana’s “How Far I’ll Go.”

The moment went viral, with reactions ranging from disbelief to hilarity. Gamble ended the night with zero dollars, while Dustin Whittern advanced to the Bonus Round and won $68,880.

Even Vanna White chimed in, noting it was the show’s longest puzzle ever—a historic moment for fans, if not for Gamble.
