Final photo of birthday girl in helicopter cockpit just minutes before Hudson river disaster

What began as a joyful birthday outing ended in tragedy when a Bell 206 helicopter operated by New York Helicopters crashed into the Hudson River at 3:17 PM on April 10.

The eight-year-old birthday girl, along with her siblings and parents, Agustin Escobar and Merce Camprubi Montal, were killed in the crash, along with pilot Sean Johnson.

The family, who had flown from Barcelona, Spain, were celebrating the mother’s 40th birthday. Escobar was an executive at Siemens Mobility, and his wife worked for Siemens Energy.

Friends described Escobar as a devoted, loving father, always calm and supportive, no matter the circumstances.
