5 Unforgettable Tales of the Worst Bridezillas

Weddings are a special day for every bride, but the stress and high expectations can sometimes bring out the worst in them. From anxiety to hidden personality traits, there are several reasons a bride might turn into a bridezilla. Here are five jaw-dropping stories from Reddit users who experienced some of the most shocking bridezilla moments.

1. My Best Friend’s Wedding

u/ajlawford: I had a silent bridezilla. My best friend of 15 years didn’t ask for much during her two-month engagement. She didn’t want my help with dress shopping, gift exchanges, or even hair and makeup on the wedding day.

“She wanted me to buy a dress, look pretty, and attend her wedding. I thought, ‘OK, whatever you want. You’re my best friend, and I’m excited you are getting married.’”

Everything seemed fine until her sister called me, criticizing my every move. She accused me of not spending enough money on the wedding and for not staying the night with the other bridesmaids.

“Apparently, I should have stayed the night of the wedding to hang with the other two bridesmaids, but I opted to drive home with my boyfriend as I needed to work.”

The bride stopped talking to me and blocked me on Facebook. It was sad to see our long-term friendship end over nothing.

2. She Was Mean as Hell

u/sojadedblond: A friend took out a $7500 loan for her wedding and forced her fiancé to take out a $25,000 loan. She lied to his parents about the wedding expenses and pressured her fiancé by threatening to leave him.

“She repeatedly lied to them until a few weeks before the wedding. She kept threatening to leave her fiancé if he didn’t do things as she wanted them done.”

When I gently told her she was being unreasonable, she exploded, accusing me of not wanting her to be happy. They divorced 14 months after the wedding.

3. The Bridezilla Tried to Scam the Bridesmaids

u/ShamedShamingShamer: A friend asked me to be a bridesmaid. The dresses were lovely but expensive at $400 each. The MOH offered to pay with her credit card, and we would reimburse her.

“When I tried the dress at the shop, it looked perfect, and I was happy. But as I was leaving, an employee said, ‘Hey! That will be $200!’”

It turned out the bride and MOH had plotted to charge us double to help pay for the bride’s dress. Four of us dropped out of the wedding immediately.

4. The Last-Minute Floral Fiasco

u/Haceldama: A bridezilla and her mom came to our flower shop at 9 a.m., wanting a bridal bouquet and several boutonnieres by noon. They wanted specific flowers that required a week’s notice.

“My boss told them that since they didn’t place an order beforehand, they would be limited to what we had in stock and simple styles that could be assembled quickly.”

The bride’s mom tried to chew out my boss for lacking customer service. They stormed out but returned 20 minutes later, meekly asking us to fulfill their order. We charged them a huge rush fee.

5. The Bridezilla Meets Karma

u/[deleted]: My friend asked me to be her maid of honor but made bizarre demands like dyeing my hair blonde, paying $1000 for her bachelorette, and losing 10 pounds.

“A week after our heated conversation, just a day before her wedding, she called me in a panic. ‘WHAT DID YOU DO??? I just got a call from my bank!’”

Her bank had frozen her account due to suspicious activity from her extravagant pre-wedding purchases. She called for help because I worked as a banker, but I refused.
