Two twin sisters spent years practicing for the Clog Dancing Grand Championship. When the day finally came, their dance was so perfectly synchronized and well choreographed – they not only came in first place, but their performance went viral!

There are countless talented dancers online, spanning styles from ballroom to tap, street to Morris dancing. Yet, every so often, a performance comes along that truly stands out, and the clog dancing duo of Lauren and Kaylee Thomas delivers just that. These sisters are championship-winning clog dancers, and if you’re unfamiliar with clogging, Ridge Runner Cloggers describe it as:

“An energetic percussive dance style where the dancer wears shoes with special taps attached.”

Clogging is a highly popular and competitive sport, and if you’re just discovering it, Lauren and Kaylee’s performance is a perfect introduction. The video below, from the 2016 Clogging Champions of America Showdown of Champions, showcases their incredible talent.

What you’re about to see is the contemporary portion of the competition, although the sisters also competed in the traditional category. Their duet is jaw-dropping. At first glance, you might mistake them for twins, but Kaylee is actually two years older than Lauren. With their matching blonde hair, identical outfits, and lightning-fast footwork, it’s an easy assumption to make.

When the video begins, six pairs of dancers are lined up on stage, ready for the ultimate dance-off. Lauren and Kaylee, dressed in sleek black tops and sparkling pants, immediately capture your attention. Although there are several other couples performing, the Thomas sisters steal the show. Their synchronization is flawless from start to finish. Every kick, spin, and complex arm movement is executed in perfect harmony. Their routine is as mind-boggling as it is energetic.

You’d be right to guess that this wasn’t their first competition. In fact, Lauren and Kaylee have won the national clogging championships an astonishing fifteen times! Although they may look too young for such accolades, they began clogging at an early age. Born in Berea, Kentucky, Lauren started at the age of three, while Kaylee began when she was five.

The sisters quickly proved their talent, sweeping local competitions before advancing to the national stage. While clogging exists in various forms around the world, the style that Lauren and Kaylee excel in is uniquely American, meaning their competitions remain domestic. This might be a blessing in disguise, as it allows them time for education and other pursuits alongside their demanding dance schedules.

In addition to competing, the girls have made appearances on popular TV shows like Nickelodeon’s *Figure It Out* and a modern version of *The Gong Show.* It’s an impressive résumé for two girls who spent much of their childhood honing their craft. Despite the intense training, Lauren and Kaylee share a close bond, their mutual love of dance keeping any sibling rivalry at bay.

Though their paths may diverge as they grow older, their shared history in dance is sure to keep them connected. If you’re looking for more from these talented sisters, be sure to check out their performance to a medley from *The Greatest Showman.* And for even more incredible clogging routines, consider subscribing to the Clogging Champions of America YouTube channel!
