Paul Potts, the very first winner of Britain’s Got Talent, returned to the stage on America’s Got Talent and delivered a performance that left the entire audience in tears. From the moment he began to sing, his voice carried a raw, heart-wrenching emotion that silenced the room. Judges were visibly moved, fans wiped away tears, and the atmosphere crackled with an intensity only he could create.

It’s been 12 years since Paul Potts first wowed the world on Britain’s Got Talent.

The first ever winner of the talent show has now reached the final of the global version of the competition, America’s Got Talent: The Champions.

Paul’s amazing operatic voice won plenty of fans once more last night (January 21), and he sailed through the first stage of the contest.

His performance of ‘Caruso’ won over the ‘superfans’ – a panel made up of one AGT fan from each US state – who voted for him to reach the final, where he’ll take on fellow BGT legend Susan Boyle.

Susan previously received the Golden Buzzer from judge Mel B, with her version of The Rolling Stones’ ‘Wild Horses’.

Other previous BGT acts who have already been eliminated on the world version include sword-swallower Alex Magala, dance troupe Light Balance, former winner Ashleigh Butler and her new dog Sully, and magician Darcy Oake.

Still to perform are musician Tokio Myers, shadow performers Attraction and current champion Lost Voice Guy.

Meanwhile, filming for the next series of Britain’s Got Talent has begun, with Ant McPartlin making a return after nearly a year away.
