Major Actress Moved Out of the United States

Eva Longoria Chooses Life Abroad, Balancing Work and Personal Values

Eva Longoria, renowned for her role in Desperate Housewives, has revealed her decision to spend most of her time outside the United States. In a candid interview with Marie Claire, Longoria shared that she now splits her time between Spain and Mexico when she isn’t working in Hollywood. While her life abroad isn’t a new chapter, her reasons for prioritizing time away from the U.S. have evolved.

Describing the current state of the country as “a scary place,” Longoria reflected on the shifts she’s observed over recent years. She mentioned how the political climate, particularly after Donald Trump’s presidency, influenced her perspective. “If he keeps his promises, it’s going to be a scary place,” she said, noting how these concerns prompted her to rethink her future.

Longoria is no stranger to activism. She spent much of the 2020 election cycle campaigning for now-Vice President Kamala Harris and even joined forces with Minnesota Governor Tim Walz. Her efforts focused on mobilizing women and Latino communities to make their voices heard. Despite her physical distance from the U.S., Longoria says, “I would like to think our fight continues.”

Closing a Chapter in California

For Longoria, leaving the U.S. wasn’t an easy decision. “I had my whole adult life here,” she shared. However, even before the pandemic, she noticed significant changes. “The vibe was different. And then Covid happened, and it pushed it over the edge. Whether it’s the homelessness or the taxes, not that I want to criticize California—it just feels like this chapter in my life is done now.”

Acknowledging her privilege, Longoria expressed empathy for those who don’t have the same freedom to relocate. “I get to escape and go somewhere. Most Americans aren’t so lucky. They’re going to be stuck in this dystopian country, and my anxiety and sadness is for them.”

Whether she will return to the U.S. permanently remains uncertain, but for now, she seems content with her current lifestyle. Balancing her time abroad with her Hollywood commitments has created a system that works well for her.

A Growing Trend Among Celebrities

Longoria isn’t the only Hollywood star choosing to step away from life in the U.S. Angelina Jolie announced plans to leave Hollywood in 2023, while Full House alum Candace Cameron Bure relocated her family out of California for security reasons. Even John Travolta has reportedly considered moving abroad. Privacy, family priorities, and business ventures have led many celebrities to seek a quieter, more balanced life away from Tinseltown.

Eva Longoria: Juggling Life Abroad and a Thriving Career

Despite her move, Longoria remains as busy as ever. She recently appeared in Only Murders in the Building Season 4, playing a version of herself. With an impressive 12 projects in the pipeline, including the 2025 film Christmas Karma and a new adaptation of War of the Worlds, Longoria shows no signs of slowing down.

For now, she continues to balance her successful career with a life abroad, proving that personal values and professional pursuits can coexist harmoniously—even amid a changing world.
